Pushing an engine really hard does bring some of its own problems with cooling. If you get oil hot enough, it starts to lose its lubricating properties which can add significant wear to an engine.

A popular cooling upgrade for cars getting worked very hard is a separate oil cooler. This works a lot like a radiator, passing the oil through its own cooling core on its way back to the engine. Resulting in significant reductions in oil temperature with drops of up to 34 degrees C possible on some kits. Reductions will vary according to the design of the original cooling arrangements, if any.
