Duke Winning Ain`t Easy
Winning Ain't Easy takes us through what it takes to win in drag racing, saloon cars and rallying with a focus on Vauxhall race cars. In a separate film, There's Only One Gerry, is a film made in celebration of one of the UKs most celebrated racing drivers, Gerry Marshall.
First we join drag racer Clive Skilton with his Vauxhall powered funny car as he prepares his car for a race against fellow legend Dennis Priddle. We get to sample the ferocious noise and speed of the cars from both trackside and onboard. The performance of these cars have to be seen to be believed as they rocket down the quarter mile.
We then travel to the workshop of W.B. Blydenstein where the final preparations are being made by the team before we see the car in action at Oulton Park in Cheshire in a Super Saloons race in the hands of Gerry Marshall. We travel onboard with Gerry who provides his unique insight into driving "Baby Bertha" as he effortlessly muscles the 476bhp monster around the parkland circuit.
Finally we join the Vauxhall Group 2 rally team as they prepare to take on the Manx rally with Will Sparrow and his co-driver Nigel Raeburn where there is also the chance to see the Escort RS1800s of Roger Clark and Billy Coleman. Onboard cameras capture the speed as the cars speed through the fast, narrow lanes of the Isle of Man.
'There's Only One Gerry' celebrates the life and the achievements of one of the most successful saloon car drivers that Great Britain has ever seen, Gerry Marshall. This action packed look at his life provides fascinating insights into his life and includes race footage from Brands Hatch as he wraps up the Super Saloon title in 'Baby Bertha', then jumps in a batters the field in two Production Saloons races in a car with a distinct performance disadvantage thanks to his determination and blistering pace. Often seen with a cigar in his hand, as well as being renowned for have the odd drink, the characterful Marshall would become a firm favourite with the supporters.
