Pro-Bolt Flanged Titanium Lock Nuts
These Pro-Bolt Flanged Titanium Lock Nuts are made from aircraft grade Ti-6AL-4V titanium (Grade 5), the outstanding benefits are rolled threads that feature greater fatigue strength and reduced galling (where friction can cause two titanium components to bond together). These nuts have in excess of 120,000Psi ultimate tensile strength, suitable to replace both Grade 5 and Grade 8 steel nuts or any nut in a stressed area.
Flanged Lock Nut (stamped metal lock ring) serves to distribute the pressure of the nut over the bolt being secured, reducing the chance of damage to the part and making it less likely to loosen as a result of an uneven fastening surface. The insert deforms over the threads of the bolt and locks the nut in two ways. First, it forces the bottom face of the screw threads against the top face of the nut threads which increases the friction between the two. Second, the insert applies a compressive force against the bolt itself. These nuts are perfect for applications where locking devices are required for use in high temperatures.
- Material Specification: Ti-6AL-4V
Ti-6AL-4V, an alloy introduced in 1954, is a good general purpose grade. Its density is 0.160 pounds per cubic inch. It can be heat-treated to ultimate strengths in excess of 170,000psi and responds to heat treatment in sections up to 15mm. This alloy is stable at temperatures ranging from 217°C to over 538°C. - Manufacturing Process: CNC machined from a solid bar.
- Ultimate Tensile Strength: 120,000Psi - 160,000Psi
- Yield Strength: 115,000Psi - 145,000Psi
- Weight: 42% lighter than steel
- Corrosion Resistance: Very high resistance to corrosion
