A car alternator is solely responsible for maintaining the charge of the battery. However, since most race cars tend to run a smaller battery in a bid to save weight, the current drawn from items such as large cooling fans, electronic power steering units or heated screens which all operate at low engine speeds can cause the battery to drain too quickly.

This is where a high output alternator steps in to provide higher charging rates at lower RPM. Included in the range are a selection of alternators that are manufactured to replace many of the more popular designs. Other alternators in the range feature a smaller design than the standard equipment for use when there is limited space available in the engine bay. This is particularly useful in single seater or prototype race cars due to also being lighter in weight.

When selecting which type of alternator that you require, some are designed as a direct replacement for particular engines, while others will require you to know the mounting types and bolt hole sizing.
