Racing flags are an essential part of motorsport, providing a clear form of communication between the racers and the marshals. With the infamous chequered flag waved to welcome home the race winner and the end of the race, along with a whole host of other coloured racing flags each symbolising a different communication to the driver or change of track state, marshal flags are waved to instruct racers to be aware of incidents ahead, faster cars approaching, or if their driving has caught the eye of the race director.
