Bilstein B8 Sprint Dampers are specially designed to be used with lowered and uprated springs on lowered vehicles. They are the perfect solution for anyone that wants increased handling capabilities and a sports suspension set up. The shortened dampers provide the optimal balance when combined with lowered sports springs. The legendary Bilstein damping smoothes out bumps for an excellent ride, but gives excellent high speed road holding.

Normally to fit this kind of damper, you need to do away with the factory electronic damping system which requires a cancellation kit be fitted. The B8 Damptronic on the other hand plugs straight into the factory system, offering damper settings that correspond to the original settings. A "comfort" setting will correspond to softer damping for example.

Most B8s use a monotube design which offers greater piston rod area for smoother, more controlled damping. Monotube dampers are much more resistant to heat fade which makes them ideal for extended hard use.

While these are likely to be firmer than your original equipment shock absorbers, the monotube design means they stay smooth and controlled. Fitting firmer shock absorbers with lowering springs actually gives you a smoother ride, as the rebound is better controlled. The car should be much less busy at low speed than it would be with standard dampers combined with lowering springs.

In order to better match lowering springs, these have a shorter piston-rod than B6s. This means that the damper travel better matches stiffer, lower springs. It also means they aren't wearing out too quickly because they are never fully extended.

For some vehicles an insert style damper rather than a complete strut will be supplied.

On a small number of vehicles, where required, an uprated twin-tube damper is supplied. These will be uprated to match the monotube units.
