The Merlin Mahala D3O Explorer Textile Motorcycle Jacket is made from an abrasion-resistant Cordura and has received a DWR treatment to ensure water repellency. The mahala jacket is also backed with a Reissa active waterproof membrane and 125g thermal liner, both of which can be removed just in case the temperature starts to rise. Along with the removable liner, this jacket also comes with a detachable neck scarf to keep any drafts from entering at the top. This jacket is fitted with a seven piece armour set on the shoulders, elbows, back and chest as standard.

The mahala jacket comes with Merlin branded snap studs on the front of the jacket to stay fashionable. It also comes with bicep, waist and hem adjustment points to create that extra bit of comfort for the rider. If the heat gets too much, along with the removable thermal liner, this jacket also comes with ventilation points on the front and the back to help keep the rider cool. This jacket comes with the Merlin Jacket-to-jean zipper which allows this jacket to be zipped to any pairs of Merlin jeans.
