Mishimoto Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can 2-Port

Mishimoto's Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can 2-Port is perfect for track cars. A catch can separates oil from the air being recirculated back into the intake, catching the waste oil in a can for disposal. On vehicles being driven very hard, there is a danger that this waste oil can slosh up the side of the can under lateral G's. Mishimoto have added baffles to keep the waste oil at the bottom of the can.

On modern engines the crank-case breather system recirculates hot air from the crankcase back into the intake. This will contain particles of oil from the engine. This fine mist of oil will then make it back into the engine and can, over time, cause fouling leading to reduced engine performance and other problems. This is especially true if a vehicle is being driven hard.

The solution to this is a catch can. This separates the oil particles from clean air and stores them in a can for safe disposal. Under hard cornering, this sludge can slosh up the side of the can and make it into the pipework drawing clean air out of the can.

Mishimoto get round this by putting baffles in the can. This keeps the waste oil in the bottom of the can, ensuring only clean oil makes it out of the catch can even during hard driving and high lateral G's.

The Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can is made from billet machined 6061 aluminium. The filter inside is 50-micron bonze, and the can just be washed unlike some other catch cans. Inlet, and outlet threads are M16 x 1.5. Drain plug is 3/8" NPT. Fittings are sealed with Viton O-Rings to ensure that the can does not itself leak. The can is supplied with two CNC machined 1/2" barbed hose fittings, and a universal mounting bracket.

Once fitted, the can should be checked at regular intervals to ensure that the oil level does not rise over the baffles.

Can is 3.8"/9.65cm in height and 2.5"/6.35cm in diameter. Can capacity is 3 fluid ounces/85ml.
