Motorsport power steering systems provide crucial benefits in terms of driver comfort, control, and precision. These systems use hydraulic or electric mechanisms to assist in steering, reducing the physical effort required and allowing for quicker, more responsive handling.

Hydraulic power steering uses a pump driven by the engine to supply pressurised fluid to the steering gear, enhancing the driver’s input. This system provides consistent steering assistance and is highly reliable under demanding conditions.

Electric power steering (EPS) utilises an electric motor to assist steering. EPS systems offer variable assistance, which can be fine-tuned for different racing conditions, improving precision and adaptability. They also reduce parasitic losses since they do not draw power directly from the engine.

Both systems improve driver endurance by reducing fatigue, especially in long races or rough terrains. They enhance control and responsiveness, allowing for more accurate and confident manoeuvres, which is critical for competitive performance in motorsport.
