Intercoolers & Charge Coolers
Your engine creates a great deal of heat as it works to deliver the performance you expect and demand of it, meaning it can soon take its toll. Just like a human who can’t keep up performance levels in extreme temperatures, high performance engines also show signs of struggling unless you can regulate the temperature by cooling the air in and around it. Tuned engines in particular are prone to overheating if you perform upgrades without fully considering the implications but there are steps you can take to keep things cool, like adding a new and improved intercooler or charge cooler.
Developed by the likes of Forge and Mishimoto to cool engine air after it goes through the turbocharger, but before it reaches the main engine block, a charge cooler is a highly effective way of bringing temperatures down before the air reaches the engine so that it can work efficiently in delivering power and performance. Perhaps more commonly known as an intercooler, these devices can also help by taking in more air by cooling it and delivering it where and when necessary so that you can feel the full benefit of your performance upgrades without the dangerous increases in engine temperature.
