The Podtec Car Pod is designed for indoor use and is the ideal solution for cherished vehicles which spend periods of time in storage. It comprises of two sections which are joined by a corrosion resistant nylon zip to form a dust and moisture tight seal. A sealable opening in the zip section provides an access point for cables to pass through which allows battery chargers etc to be connected to the vehicle. The base section is made from a robust, abrasion resistant 0.7mm PVC material and the top is made from high quality 0.35mm clear PVC which is thicker than most other brands. This thicker material is used to add durability but also to increase the clarity so the view of the vehicle inside is improved. Integral filtered fan(s) inflate the pod in minutes and run constantly to ensure the pod is kept inflated and prevents stagnant air. The fans also help to dry out a wet car to vastly reduce any risk of rust or corrosion occurring. The fans have a long service life and the fan filters are washable which is ideal if the pod is used in a dusty environment.
The Carpod fans have a very low current draw which makes them cheap to run. For example, a twin fan model consumes just 0.48kWh of energy per day. You can calculate the exact daily running cost by multiplying 0.48 by the kWh cost from your electricity provider. As a guide the cost is less than 10 pence per day (correct as of August 2022).
The process of protecting your vehicle with a Podtec Carpod is simple and can be achieved in under 15 minutes. Simply unfold the Carpod flat onto the garage floor, unzip the top section and fold back out of the way. Drive the vehicle onto the base and then pull the top section over the vehicle. Zip the two sections together then plug in the fans(s) to inflate (fans must be kept running to keep the Carpod inflated). That’s all there is to it.
