Revo Front Mounted Intercooler

An intercooler is a vital part of the intake system on a turbocharged or supercharged car. It cools the air going into the engine down. The cooler the air, the more oxygen it contains, and the more power the engine can potentially make. An uprated Revo Intercooler can significantly boost the power your engine makes.

A supercharger or turbocharger increases power by compressing air to force more of it into your engine. More air means more power. Unfortunately compressing the air heats it up. Hot air contains less dense oxygen which can limit power. The ECU may also trim the map back to be less aggressive as inlet temperatures increase to prevent detonation.

The solution to this has for a long time been to fit an intercooler. An Intercooler is a sort of radiator where hot air from the turbo has cold air from outside the vehicle passed over it. This cools the air inside back down before it enters the engine.

Generally the stock intercooler will be fine up to a point. It will have been engineered for the original power level and the original ECU map. As you add power with other modifications the amount of heat you need to deal with will increase and the factory intercooler can start to become a bottleneck to how much power can be extracted from the engine.

A Revo Intercooler is engineered to handle more heat and more power. A bigger core gives it greater total cooling capacity, keeping inlet temperatures down. More front area helps with heat transfer. It still fits neatly into the same space the OE intercooler fits in though. Revo's state of the art bar and plate core design maximises heat transfer and helps keep things cool when you're stuck in slow traffic.

It isn't simply enough to make an intercooler bigger though. Revo have carefully designed the end tanks and connectors to offer as little obstruction and turbulence as possible. This is important because any obstruction can cause boost lag as air from the turbo is delayed making it's way into the engine.

The intercooler comes with high end precision CNC machined brackets. These help ensure a close fit and doesn't look out of place next to the rest of your high quality Revo engine modifications.

Typically an intercooler is an essential part of higher stage maps. It will also increase power gains from Stage 1 remaps, and helps prevent power loss on a vehicle that is going to be driven hard.
