The Shoei GT-Air 2 Graphic Motorcycle Helmet has been constructed using an Advanced Integrated Matrix. Advanced Integrated Matrix is made from 3 different components - Fibre-Reinforced Matrix, a Compound Structure and a Synthetic Resin. The outer shell of the Helmet is made from fibreglass which is given its shape by a heat-setting plastic resin. The Helmet shell has an ideal function due to the integration of organic fibres, as well as a three-dimensional shaping process in a layered structure. The result is an outer shell with high strength, but very low weight as compared to shells that are produced in a conventional way. The AIM and AIM+ shells also contain layers of reinforcing organic fibres and glass fibres. This makes the Helmets both lighter and more elastic, yet have the same strength and are more resistant to penetration due to the additional use of special fibres. Finally, a specially modified, unsaturated polyester resin is used which acquires the desired strength and elasticity during the heat hardening process, and is also extremely resistant to corrosion. Thanks to the AIM, Shoei are able to produce outer shells that convincingly produce ideal dampening of impacts, good elasticity, lightweight, and enormously high strength and resistance to penetration.
The GT-Air 2 has a EPS liner system which comes in multiple densities. This allows the Helmet to provide optimised protection through the EPS elements with different shock-absorbing levels. The inner liner is removable, and all pads can be washed to keep them fresh for every ride. For additional comfort, multiple venting and extraction points have been included to dramatically increase the airflow for the rider. These venting points allow air to pass through in an aerodynamic manner to provide the rider with cooling airflow, but doesn't compromise the performance. The Aerodynamics of this Helmet have been wind-tunnel engineered to improve performance further. In addition, there is an integrated spoiler and a newly designed Chin spoiler.
This Helmet has a mist-retardant CNS-1 Pinlock Visor included, along with a QSV-2 locking mechanism and Sun visor included. The Visor has special beading for optimum sealing, along with a new slightly open Visor position. Inside the Helmet, there are 3D centre pads and Cheek pads included which are all detachable and washable.
Additional features include the Helmet being prepared for the SENA SRL2 communication system, a Stainless Steel micro-ratchet system and the Helmet is available in three different outer shell sizes.
