Vibra Technics Uprated Front Engine Mount - Performance / Competition

Vibra Technics Caterham Uprated Front Engine Mount - Performance / Competition is a considerably more advanced mount than the standard Caterham part. It features a much greater useable rubber volume for absorbing vibration energy without increasing engine movement. It also has a more effective rebound (failsafe) feature which limits upward movement as a result of extreme torque reaction or engine bounce. The base flange is 3mm thick as opposed to the original 2.4mm. The greater load bearing rubber section gives considerably better vibration isolation over the OEM part as well as improved durability.

Durability of the system is significantly improved, as in many cases the mount replaces OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts which have a notorious reputation for premature failure, particularly when used in performance applications and under extreme driving conditions.
• Improved handling and driver feel. Lower overall engine movement significantly reduces the stress on engine connections such as inter-cooler pipes, fuel lines, exhaust systems etc. Clearance between the engine and other critical parts such as a strut brace and other under bonnet hardware is maintained.

Vibra Technics Uprated Engine Mounts are manufactured primarily from natural rubber compounds and occasionally from blends of synthetic and natural rubber to give particular properties for specific applications. Extensive experience and testing in all kinds of environmental conditions by automobile manufacturers has shown that only natural rubber compounds give optimum performance and durability, which is why it is still universally used today by every car manufacturer. Where the rubber needs to be attached to metal components, this is achieved by chemically bonding the rubber to the metal during the moulding process, using the latest chemical adhesive systems.

Competition or Performance, what’s the difference?

Performance engine mounts have been designed for high performance applications where a direct replacement for the standard mount is required along with a much higher level of engine control to cope with higher engine outputs, and higher road inputs caused by fast driving. The fast road mounts give significant improvements in ride and handling without adversely affecting vibration isolation. Strong enough for engine support during hard driving, but compliant enough for daily road use.

Competition engine mounts like the performance version are a direct replacement for the standard mounts. They are made from a stiffer compound than the performance mounts, so they can cope with the higher loads that are found in competition use. Competition mounts are designed to give you a much firmer feel and a reduction in engine movement. The competition compound is still able to isolate some noises and vibration and still provide a superior feel on the race track.
