AEM Electronics High-Output IGBT "Smart" Inductive Coils offer the first inductive coil solution that achieves CDI-like spark energy and voltage, combined with an extended spark duration necessary for high-performance vehicles running high compression, high RPM, forced induction and/or nitrous equipped engines.

Most Auto enthusiasts/tuners who have forced induction engines, high RPM engines or run nitrous oxide are well aware of the compromises associated with using inductive coils compared to converting to a Capacitive Discharge Ignition system (CDI). While inductive coils easily achieve a long spark duration, they lack sufficient energy to efficiently ignite the mixture in the combustion chamber of a highly modified performance vehicle. CDIs on the other hand, deliver intense spark energy, but with practically no spark duration, which makes proper air/fuel mixture critical for optimal combustion and performance.

With the development of AEM's High-Output IGBT"Smart" Inductive Coils, this is no longer a challenge, as both increased spark energy and duration have been achieved without the need to convert to a CDI system.

AEM's High-Output Inductive Coils each deliver over 100mJ of spark energy and a minimum of 40,000 Volts, as much as most CDI systems, without the need for a CDI module! They also provide a very long spark duration at full energy, even out-performing existing CDI/multi-spark systems, which simulate longer spark durations with smaller spark events on either side of the CDI main spark.

AEM's High-Output, Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) "Smart" Inductive Coils are designed for use on applications that do not have an external igniter.
