Davies Craig LCD EWP & Fan Digital Controller
This latest version of the Davies Craig LCD EWP and fan digital controller provides complete cooling system control to keep your engine running at an optimum temperature. It can manage the speed of a Davies Craig electric water pump (EWP) and control the switching of an electric cooling fan. Available as a complete kit with temperature sensor, wiring harness and adaptor to place the sensor in a coolant hose, or as a stand alone unit for those wanting to upgrade an existing Davies Craig controller.
- Updated, slimmer design with more universal mounting options and improved wiring plug location
- Complete control over cooling system to maintain optimum engine temperature
- Operates both Davies Craig EWP and electronic fans
- Easily lock in your desired temperature and the controller does the rest
- Allows EWP and fan to continue running after engine shutdown eliminating hot spots
The new unit features a black and white high contrast LCD screen which displays real-time data regarding the engine targeted and set temperatures. A flashing EWP logo in the top left of the screen signifies the pump pulse, width, modulation (PWM) operation, delivering the desired coolant flow through the engine. Take control of the cooling parameters of your engine with targeted and set temperatures which can be adjusted from 60 deg C (140 deg F) to 110 deg C (212 deg F). These temperatures are now stored in the unit memory for recall for when the battery is disconnected. Other display features include an override feature to assist with electric water pump bleeding operation and also a voltage output.
Also included in the digital controller is a suite of self-diagnostic test functions which provide visual and audible warnings which enable simple trouble-shooting and extra protection against engine damage. These warnings are highlighted as below:
- If the coolant temperature doesn't exceed 40 deg C (104 deg F) within the first 5 minutes after start-up.
- If the coolant exceeds 10 deg C (+50 deg F) of set/targeted temperature.
- If the coolant temperature exceeds 100C (212F)
- If the voltage supply is either too high or too low.
- If there is an error with the electric water pump.
- If there is a temperature sensor error.
As per the previous model of EWP and fan controller, the 8002 manages the operation of your water pump automatically by varying the pumps speed in relation to the engine coolant temperature as well as regulating the fan speed to assist in thermal control.
The digital fan controller also doesn't just stop protecting as soon as the engine is shut down, it will still operate the EWP and fan for up to 3 minutes after the ignition is cut to circulate coolant to rapidly dissipate more heat to avoid heat soak.
Setting the coolant parameters is via a simple push button system, with the unit set by default to 85 deg C (185 deg F)
