The compressor wheel is responsible for drawing fresh air into the turbo and is normally changed for a larger size to increase flow and weaker cast components are often upgraded to billet construction for increased strength.

The turbine wheel is used to transfer energy from the exhaust gases to drive the compressor wheel, which is replaced for a larger size or modified by precision trimming or cutting to increase flow capacity, depending on the application or original OE design.

Rotating parts require robust and stronger bearings and shaft components to hold them in a consistent and stable position. Huge stresses and forces are exerted upon these simple but critical parts as turbo size and capacity increase and in some applications, additional 360° thrust bearing assemblies are added.

Compressor and turbine housings require modification to accept the newer oversized rotating components, to ensure a snug fit is maintained with no loss of performance, along with actuator modification or replacement to achieve higher basic boost levels.

Please note: Performance gains over OE Turbochargers are typically achieved with additional Air intake, intercooler, exhaust system and engine remapping upgrades.
